The largest chandelier in the world! It is an imposing crystal chandelier approximately 46 feet high, roughly the height of a four story building. It is 26 feet in diameter and is estimated to weigh close to 8.5 tons. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque Chandelier is adorned with over 600,000 crystals, and it hangs suspended from a one hundred and fifty foot high ceiling under a dome eighty feet wide. There are 1,114 halogen bulbs to provide the illumination. An added touch is 24 carat gold plating on all the metallic portions of the chandelier. This gives you an idea that Oman is actually one of the richest countries in the world.
